24 Nov Raw Snickers Slice
Nougat Layer –
1 cup almond flour (can grind almonds down to make flour)
1 cup of slivered almonds
1/3 cup raw honey
2 TBS coconut oil
Caramel Layer –
1 cup dates
1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp Celtic sea salt (or healthy favourite salt)
1/2 tsp vanilla OR seeds from 1 vanilla pod
4 TBS coconut oil
Nut Layer (optional) –
1 cup crushed nuts of choice
Chocolate Layer –
1/2 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 cup raw honey (or liquid sweetener of choice)
1 & 1/4 cups cacao powder
Pinch sea salt
1. To make the nougat, pulse all ingredients except the slivered almonds in your food processor until smooth. Stir in the almonds by hand.
Line a square or rectangular dish of your choice with cling wrap and Press the mixture evenly into the base of the dish.
2. To make the caramel, blend all the ingredients together in your food processor or blender until creamy and thick. If you need more water add it in little bit by little bit. Pour on top of the nougat and put in the freezer to set. (If your doing the extra Nut layer, sprinkle the nuts over the caramel layer before putting it in the freezer)
3. To make the chocolate, mix the coconut oil and honey together first and then add the cacao powder and salt and stir to combine. Once the caramel has set and is firm to touch, pour the chocolate layer over evenly. Place back in the freezer. Once set, slice into bite sized pieces & enjoy.
Serve right away, or store in the freezer and pull out pieces as you want them. They should take approximately 10 mins to thaw out.
These are ridiculously delicious and great for any celebration, or as a healthy snack to pull out of the freezer when the sweet tooth is calling!
